Is there a cure for endometriosis?
Unfortunately, there is currently no medication that can effectively cure endometriosis once and for all. Available pharmacological treatments focus on relieving symptoms, improving daily comfort, and slowing disease progression, but they do not guarantee that the disease will disappear and never return. Endometriosis Drug – What's New in 2025?
2025 could prove to be a turning point for many women with endometriosis. The program launched on July 1st. Comprehensive Care for Patients with Endometriosis financed by the National Health FundAccording to its assumptions, every woman will have access to highly specialized diagnostics and treatment in specially established and specialized centers. A referral from a primary care physician or gynecologist is sufficient to participate in the program. While it's still too early to call it a success, this is a significant step forward that could shorten the diagnostic process and reduce the suffering of many women.
Another important event is the change in the list of reimbursed drugsThe drug Ryego is included on the list, and has been reimbursed in Poland for patients with endometriosis since October 2025.This is a new, three-ingredient medication containing three active ingredients: estradiol, norethisterone acetate, and relugolix. It has been available in Poland for several years, but it was not reimbursed and its primary purpose was the treatment of uterine fibroids. Following the October changes, it can be used in adult women of reproductive age (over 18 and before menopause) who:
- Diagnosed as moderate or severe symptoms uterine fibroids (heavy bleeding, lower abdominal pain),
- You have moderate or severe symptoms of endometriosis (especially if you have previously received other drug or surgical treatments).
Ryego may also be a good treatment option for women who want to avoid surgery and preserve their fertility. It can be used during preparation for embryo transfer in vitro when suppression of endometriosis or adenomyosis is indicated.
How does it work? Ryego helps relieve pelvic pain, reduce heavy menstrual bleeding, and can significantly improve the quality of daily life. Another advantage is that it can be used for long periods, even several years. Importantly, it should only be initiated and used under the supervision of a physician specializing in endometriosis. Regular health monitoring is necessary during treatment, and unfortunately, not every woman can benefit from it. Contraindications include:
- District pregnancy and lactation,
- Thromboembolic diseases,
- Hormone-dependent breast or reproductive organ cancers,
- Unregulated liver diseases,
- Osteoporosis,
- Migraines with aura,
- Genital bleeding of unknown origin.

Recent months have brought many changes in the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis. The introduction of a new Comprehensive Endometriosis Care program and the reimbursement of the triple-drug drug Ryego offer the opportunity for more effective treatment for women struggling with this condition.
